HOW TO DO THE WORK - DR LEPERA
We first became aware of Dr LePera through her Instagram name ‘The Holistic Psychologist’. With over 4 million followers her posts on trauma and the body were always insightful, helpful and informative. When her book was released in April 2021 we knew this would help people to understand and break down trauma.
The book explores how adverse experiences and trauma in childhood stay with us. This can result in whole body dysfunction. This can activate harmful traits in us that keep us stuck in cynical patterns of co-dependancy, substance addictions, emotional immaturity and trauma bonds leading to unfulfilled relationships with others and our selfs.
LePera honestly writes about her own personal experiences and breaks down her own healing work. What sets this apart from other self help books is the depth she writes at, which can be uncomfortable at times. ‘Doing the work’ means, taking our thoughts off of autopilot and witnessing them for what they are. Le Pera offers readers the support and practical tools to break free from destructive behaviours and relationships. Healing is a conscious process that can be lived daily through out habits and pattens.
